Different Types of Raw Food Diets

When I first studied raw foods I had thought there was only one kind. The kind that ate all raw. That would make one a raw foodist right?
Well… it seems it is a bit more complicated than just that. Let’s take a look at some of the different types of raw food diets that are out there.
Sproutarian – This is the type of raw fooder that eats mostly sprouts. They don’t eat ONLY sporuts, but it is what makes up the bulk of their diet.
Living Fooder (Ann Wigmore Style) – People who follow Ann Wigmore’s way of eating consume mostly sprouts, raw fermented foods and a bunch of raw blended foods.
Natural Hygiene - Natural Hygienists vary a lot from one another actually. It is kind of hard to pinpoint exactly what diet a Natural Hygienist would eat. It usually consists of raw fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds. Most Natural Hygiene believers are also vegan, but a few also consume animal products.
Instinctive Eating - This is also referred to as Anopsology. They usually are mono-dieters where they only eat one type of food at a time until they are full. They believe their body will tell them what they should eat. This is very similar to the Paleolithic diet. Some Instinctive Eaters eat animal products.
Essene – People who choose this diet base their way of eating on the Essene Gospels of Peace. They also believe that Jesus was a member of the Essene sect and ate a raw vegetarian diet. The Essene diet is basically a lot of raw sprouts, wheat grass, fruits and veggies. The Essene diet also believes in consuming raw and fermented dairy products.
Fruitarian – These eaters consume at least 75% fruit in their diet.
Breatharian – This is the most extreme of all raw food diet types. Breatharians in fact, don’t eat food. They get their energy and nutrients from the air they breathe. They usually belong to a rare Tantric sect and if you are serious about being one you should probably move to India and find a real teacher. This isn’t something you should try on your own.
Regular Raw Fooder – This is bascially anyone who consumes a diet that is at least 75% raw. There are raw foodists who eat raw meat and diary, but most raw foodists are vegan.
